Our Breast Cancer awareness event in October 2025. Renee was the winner of the ‘juggling award’ while Suzanne was using a ‘mega phone’ to speak over the music in the background. The purpose of the event was to raise awareness and highlight the importance breast cancer, plus we raised some further funds for Breast Cancer research.

The October Birthday Bash was held in the spectacular setting of the Caledonian Hilton.

The September coffee morning was at the W Hotel in St James Quarter.

The views and service were top notch.

News from your AWCCS Board November 2025

Dear Members,

Your Board is busy planning for a new Scottish Charity which you select every other year, creating social and philanthropic events, and looking for ways to keep you interested, to keep you involved, and to keep you smiling.

Currently the AWCCS Board is operating without a Charity Chair, and more importantly, without a President.  Victoria Edwards, our newly-elected President, has been suffering through the illness and now the death of her mother.  Victoria is taking some time off from leadership duties, and she’ll continue as a member.  We all send Victoria support as she goes through this difficult time.

The Board is planning coffee mornings, lunches, festive events related to Thanksgiving, and more. Do sign up for either the Glasgow Thanksgiving event which is Sunday November 23, or the Edinburgh Thanksgiving event on Sunday November 30. This is how we develop and enrich our friendships, by showing up over the months and years.  The Thanksgiving Silent Auction is our key annual fundraising activity, and you can support this by donating something to the Auction (email nlynner@gmail.com for the Edinburgh Silent Auction) and also by bidding on Auction items.

There are events through the winter, and you are welcome to share ideas you have for an event with anyone on the Board. We’d all benefit from your involvement.

Would you like to learn more about the Charity Chair position, or the President’s role? Let a Board Member know.

Request for Donations to the Thanksgiving Silent Auction

There will be some terrific items in the AWCCS Silent Auction at Edinburgh November 30 Thanksgiving Dinner. Do you have something to share with this flagship fundraising club event?  For example, longtime member Delma Dewar has donated her precious copy of the classic cookbook Martha Stewart’s “Entertaining “ published in 1982. It’s in great condition. (Copies on Amazon range as high as £96 for used, £184 for pristine.)

This is just one of the great items in the Auction.

If you have a donation, email nlynner@ gmail.com.

The FAWCO Environment Festival 2025 was held recently at the Dundreggan Rewilding Centre Scotland. It was a fantastic group and great trip. We met at the Tree nursery, Alan Watson Featherstone who founded Trees for Life. He is now retired and was just there visiting for the day. It was really interesting to hear about a few things from his perspective.
